Fishing Guides
Jackson Hole Anglers employs some of the finest fly fishing
guides in the nation. Our fishing guides come from a variety
of different locations and backgrounds. Our guides do,
however, share some very important attributes. They are
passionate instructors, guides, and fishermen. For more
information on our guiding philosophy, please visit our
philosophies page. Below are some
brief portraits of some of our fishing guides.
David Ellerstein:
Owner ~ Head Guide
David Ellerstein began his professional guide career in Ontario,
Canada back in 1989, and has been a guide ever since. He has
guided fishing, canoeing, and whitewater rafting all over North
America. David moved to Jackson Hole in 1995, and founded
Jackson Hole Anglers in 2001. His lifelong passion for guiding
trips has helped him become one of the premiere guides in the area.
David has passed his knowledge on to many guides and gets a great
thrill from seeing others achieve things they didn't think they
could do. David spends his winters as a ski instructor at the
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, and his free time running rivers and
fishing all over North America. David is an extremely patient
and knowledgeable guide, capable of teaching the most veteran of
fishermen something new. David has a relaxed approach to
fishing, which means people will have a great time, regardless of
what the day holds.
Kevin Emery:
Kevin Emery has been a professional guide of outdoor pursuits for
over 16 years and started guiding for Jackson Hole Anglers in 2005.
He also guides for NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) where
he has instructed over 1500 days of wilderness education, teaching
fishing, canoeing, rock climbing, mountaineering, and snowboarding
all over the world. Kevin has a B.S. degree in Parks and Recreation
Management with an education emphasis. Kevin is a professional and
compassionate guide capable of teaching beginners and experts alike.
His relaxed approach to fishing allows for time to enjoy the day
fishing as well as enjoying the whole experience. If learning about
local flora and fauna is your “cup of tea” then Kevin is your guide.
When not fishing, Kevin can be found spending time with friends
climbing, biking and pursuing his photography business
www.kevinsemery.com. Spending time with Kevin is an experience
not to be missed.
Spencer Morton:
Hailing
from Stowe, Vermont, and carrying a degree in fisheries and wildlife
biology, Spencer has made quite a splash on the Jackson scene.
He has quickly gone from being our newest guide to being one of our
most requested guides. Spencer is young, energetic, and
extremely knowledgeable on a variety of fishing subjects including
stream dynamics, trout physiology, and entomology. In the
winter, Spencer plays for our local hockey team, the Jackson Hole
Moose. Spencer is an excellent guide who's passion and
excitement are bound to make a day on the river a memory to last a
lifetime.
Jason Moore:
A
native of Rochester, NY, Jason has a passion for the outdoors like
few others. Jason likes to spend just about every waking
moment fishing, hunting, or skiing. An expert caster and about
the friendliest guy you'd ever want to meet, Jason makes a day on
the water more than just enjoyable, he makes it truly memorable.
First class personal attention and a burning desire to catch fish
are just some of the things you'll get during a day with Jason
Moore.
Jesse Mead:
Jesse is a veteran guide with 15 years of guiding western rivers
to his credit. Jesse has a variety of great skills including a
specialty in deep water nymphing for large trout. Jesse oozes
confidence and experience. We have seen him show the most
seasoned angler something new. We have also seen him get young
kids catch big fish on the fly. Whatever experience you are
looking for, Jesse can most likely provide it for you.
James Thomson:
One of our most experienced guides, J.T. has been guiding
throughout Oregon, Idaho, and Wyoming for close to twenty years.
J.T. currently spends his summers guiding with us at Jackson Hole
Anglers, his fall is spent guiding Steelhead fishing on the Rouge
River in Oregon, and his winters as an instructor at the Jackson
Hole Mountain Resort. J.T. rows a handmade wooden drift boat
and will make any day on the river a ton of fun and a great learning
experience.
