Frequently Asked Questions
Can three people share a boat on a trophy trip?
Each boat holds two anglers plus a guide. For groups of three, the right setup depends on your specific party. In some cases a third person can join one boat for an additional fee, and in others two boats makes more sense. We sort this out on a case-by-case basis to make sure everyone is comfortable on the water. Give us a call and we'll walk you through the options and exact pricing for your group.
Do we know in advance which water we'll be fishing?
Trophy waters change with the calendar, so the Upper Green, Yellowstone Lake, the Firehole, and the Lewis Channel each have their prime windows. You're welcome to request a specific destination, or let your guide pick the option giving you the best shot at a trophy on your date.
Will weather cancel the trip?
Brief showers are part of fishing in the mountains and rarely interrupt a trophy day, especially since fish often feed actively in cooler, overcast conditions. A solid rain jacket usually covers it. Only a forecast of all-day storms triggers a rescheduling conversation, and that's subject to availability.
What clothing works best for a trophy day?
Trophy days start before sunrise and stretch into the evening, so layering for a wide temperature swing is essential. A warm shell, fleece, hat, and gloves keep you comfortable in the early hours, with a t-shirt underneath for the warm afternoon stretch. Bring shoes you don't mind soaking.
Where do we stop for restrooms during the day?
Bathrooms are usually available at the put-in and take-out for the waters we fish. Between those, your guide will pull off at a discreet stretch of bank whenever you need a break. Bathroom supplies is kept on the boat so nothing slows the day down.
How do cancellations and refunds work?
A 50% deposit secures your trip, with the balance billed automatically 72 hours before departure. Cancel earlier than 72 hours and your deposit is refunded minus a $40 per boat fee. Inside that 72-hour window, no refunds are issued.
How long is the trip?
Plan on a full day. Pickup is around 6:00 AM and you'll be back by about 6:00 PM. The drive to the water is 1.5 to 2 hours each way, with roughly 8 hours of fishing in between. Lunch is included on the water.
